Military & Veteran Careers

At WakeMed, we know that mission matters.

We are proud to count more than 500 active and retired service members among our WakeMed family. United by a shared commitment to putting the needs of others above their own, these individuals not only serve our nation, but also serve our local community as members of our care team, support services departments, physicians and volunteers.

Our Commitment to You

WakeMed offers flexible schedules and military leave options, allowing our team members to fulfill their commitments to country and community. We also work to engage and support our veteran and active service members through:

· Annual Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day recognition events at our hospital locations

· Outreach and support through our staff-led Diversity & Inclusion Council

· One of only four training sites in the country for the Navy Hospital Corpsmen Trauma Training Program

From the Team

dellostritto

"WakeMed a great place for veterans to work and I highly recommend it! WakeMed has its own great set of values, but I see the Army Values (Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service) lived out at WakeMed every day from both my team and all staff when it comes to patient care and looking out for each other. Though not required, WakeMed goes out of its way throughout the year to remind us that we are appreciated as well!"

Jack D., WakeMed Clinical Engineering
Sergeant, United States Army (2012-2020)

"WakeMed has a warm and supportive workplace culture that is appreciated by many of us who have served."

Dr. Pascal Udekwu, WakeMed General Surgery
Colonel, USAF (retired), Army and Air Force veteran
