The Nurse Practitioner will work under the Primary Supervising Physician, all Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Physician Partners, and the Advanced Practice Provider Director/Manager, to deliver competent medical care to an age specific population including adults and geriatric Cardiothoracic Surgery patients at WakeMed and WakeMed Physician Practices. The position consists of both inpatient and outpatient clinical coverage. The nurse practitioner will provide daily rounding, consults , procedures, patient orders and discharge planning and implementation. In clinic the nurse practitioner will provide pre and postoperative care in both in-person and virtual clinic visits. The nurse practitioner will also function as an educator and preceptor for students from health care programs. The Nurse Practitioner will maintain all required certifications by the North Carolina Nursing and Medical Boards, and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as policies, procedures of WakeMed. Understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values, and management of WakeMed.
