Position Information:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist III performs routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Utilizes requisite equipment instruments and computer systems. Evaluates and reports patient results using considerable independent judgment within the scope of established testing methods. Performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of the laboratory equipment and supplies. Takes a lead role in the development and implementation of new procedures instrumentation and computer functionality. Assumes responsibility for one or more major on-going laboratory projects or functions such as performance improvement safety instrumentation quality control regulatory administrative staff development or computer systems. Serves as a resource in area of responsibility. Performs testing that requires specialized knowledge within a discipline and/or crosses disciplines as a technical expert. Trains new employees in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and serves as a resource for less experienced staff. Assists supervisor in the review of laboratory reports procedures and quality control. Helps oversee and assure complete documentation of employee training annual competency testing and procedure manual reviews. As a technical expert serves as a resource and mentor to staff and ensures that technical requirements for regulatory agencies are met. Oversees departmental proficiency testing. Assumes major responsibility for organizing updating and reviewing departmental procedure manuals and technical resources.
Experience Requirements:
3 Years Clinical - Medical Technologist In Clinical - Clinical Laboratory - Moderate and High Complexity Testing Required - And 4 Years Clinical - Clinical Laboratory - Moderate and High Complexity Testing Preferred - And 2 Years Leadership Preferred
Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology Or Clinical Laboratory Science Required - Or Bachelor's Degree Life Science Required - With Required Licensure/Certification Or Bachelor's Degree Related Field And Certificate Medical Technology Required
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
American Society for Clinical Pathology Or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel Certification Required
Hours of Work:
Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm
Weekend Requirements:
No Weekends
