Position Information:
The Environment Health & Safety (EHS) Officer provides the leadership for the daily operational activities of the assigned Environment of Care and Life Safety Management Programs impacting the WakeMed enterprises and/or the entire system. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the provision of expertise for the development and maintenance of assigned policies and plans; the coordination and completion of assigned safety drills and inspections; the management of performance improvement projects and initiatives; responding to safety incidents and/or safety investigations including the required follow-up; the management of regulatory/accreditation inspections action plans and documentation; and the development of required quarterly and annual reports. The EHS Officer participates in the development and implementation of assigned Environment of Care / Life Safety staff training. The EHS Officer participates and/or leads assigned committees and task forces serving as a resource for department management and staff. Other duties may be assigned as needed.The Environmental Health & Safety Officer is expected to stay and/or return to work to fulfill assigned regulatory required tasks and during emergencies and/or events to perform duties specific to the assigned safety related roles and responsibilities. This responsibility may require working a non-traditional work schedule and/or working outside normal assigned hours and duties to support the response and the WakeMed system?s operations.
Experience Requirements:
3 Years Healthcare Safety And/Or Emergency Management Required - And Training Emergency Vehicle Operations Preferred
Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree Related Field Required - Or Associate's Degree Related Field Required - With Equivalent Experience
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Maintain Vehicle Operator Insurability Required - And Hospital Incident Command And Hazardous Materials and Waste Technician And State Medical Assistance Team And Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Required - Within 1 Year of Hire And Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification Preferred

M-F; 8:00am - 5:00pm
