The Physician Assistant will work under the Primary Supervising Physician, all Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Physician Partners, and the Advanced Practice Provider Director/Manager, to deliver competent medical care to an age specific population including adults and geriatric Cardiothoracic Surgery patients at WakeMed and WakeMed Physician Practices. The position consists of both inpatient and outpatient clinical coverage. The Physician Assistant will provide daily rounding, consults, procedures, patient orders and discharge planning and implementation. In clinic the Physician Assistant will provide pre and postoperative care in both in-person and virtual clinic visits. The Physician Assistant will also function as an educator and preceptor for students from health care programs. The Physician Assistant will maintain all required certifications by the North Carolina Medical Board to practice in the specialty of cardiothoracic surgery. This position is to maintain the scope of practice to be consistent with the policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board, and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed. The Physician Assistant understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values, and management of WakeMed.
Clinical - Cardiac Surgery Or Clinical - Thoracic Surgery Preferred
Bachelor's Degree Physician Assistant Required - And Master's Degree Physician Assistant Preferred
Licensed Physician Assistant Required - And Board Certification in Area of Practice Preferred Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Required
